NURSE ASSISTANT TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

Job Objective: The purpose of the job is to demonstrate and teach quality patient care to nurse aide candidates in both the classroom and clinical setting.

Hours: Flexible

(Days) M, T, W, Th, F; 2-5 days/week; 4-6 hours/day; 120-152 hours/course; 3 or more courses/year; fill in for another instructor.

(Evenings and/or weekends) M, T, W, Th, or Sat/Sun, 2-3 evenings/week/weekend; 4-6 hours/night, 120-152 hours/course; 3 or more courses/year; fill in for another instructor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate patient care in the classroom and clinical unit.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures to nurse aide candidates on required nursing topics such as protecting people’s rights, controlling the spread of germs, keeping people safe, assisting people with personal care, and more.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Plan and evaluate materials, and methods of instruction.
  • Evaluate and grade students’ class work, clinic work, and assignments.
  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades and required course records.
  • Monitor and requisition classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature and participating in recommended professional seminars.
  • Work cooperative with the Department Director to schedule and maintain the required number of nurse assistant instructional programs.

    • Education: Registered Nurse with a diploma or a degree.

    Professional License: Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in Wisconsin.

    Experience: Minimum of two years experience working as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must be in the provision of long term care. (This is required by the State of Wisconsin)

    Experience in teaching adult learners.

    Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral expression and speech clarity required.
  • Ability to adapt to different student needs.
  • Ability to select and use training methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they learn and work.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
