Workplace & Onsite Training | CPR | First Aid

Full Service-Workplace Training Program

Whatever your safety training needs may be, the American Red Cross can give your employees the necessary skills they need to save lives.

The American Red Cross-Lakeland Chapter’s Workplace Training program is ideal for your company or organization’s need for safety training. We offer First Aid, CPR, and other safety-related classes that can be taken separately or in combination. You can choose the class or classes that will fill your company’s requirements. As a customer of the Lakeland Chapter you will be able to choose the date and time for the class that is convenient to your schedule and location site. We ask for a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve participants for most classes. If more than twelve participants need to be scheduled we can make arrangements to add another instructor.

Facts about the American Red Cross Full Service-Workplace Training Program

  • Meets ECC 2005 guidelines.
  • Meets OSHA Yearly Bloodborne Pathogen Standard Guidelines.
  • Courses combine visual, auditory and hands-on learning.
  • New “practice-while-you-watch” video instructional method.
  • Enhanced CPR and/or First Aid Skill cards to reinforce learning with illustrated step-by-step instructions.
  • Instructors focus training on your specific workplace needs.

Any of the courses listed below can be combined with other courses. Course times vary due to the combined components and prices.  

CPR 

Adult CPR - 3.5 hours
This course features hands on simulation, lecture, as well as live and video demonstration.  Participants learn to call and activate the EMS, care for conscious and unconscious choking victims, perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults.

Child and infant CPR – 4 hours
This course gives the individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in children and infants until advance medical personnel arrive and takes over.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer - 8 hours.
Designed for any induvidual who has a duty to respond to emergencies.  It combines lectures and video with hands-on- skill training.  Key content areas include: recognizing and caring for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants, two-rescuer CPR, use of resuscitation and bag valve mask and the use of an automated external defibrillator for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training can be added to any of the CPR courses. Please add an additional 45 minutes to the training hours.  An AED is use to analyzes the heart rhythm for abnormalities and if necessary directs the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the victim.

First Aid 

First Aid – 3.5 hours.
This course is designed to teach indivuals how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation.  This course also covers how to control bleeding, bandaging, splinting and how to care for sudden illnesses. 

First Aid and Adult Conscious Choking (CBRF facilities) – 4 hours.
Designed for Community Based Residential Facilities workers that are required by the State of Wisconsin to be first aid and adult conscious choking trained.

Emergency Response - 45.5 to 51 hours
The purpose of this course is to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a first responder in an emergency to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until more advance medical help can arrive. 

Other Workplace Programs

Bloodborne Pathogen Training: Preventing Disease Transmission - 2 hours
This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills to understand how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to reduce and prevent exposure to themselves and others.  Practicing personal hygiene, using personal protective equipment, engineering and work practices along with how to properly clean and disinfect contaminated equipment and supplies will be discussed.

Asthma Inhaler Training - 45 minutes
This module provides participants with the signs and signals that can trigger an asthma attack and includes a demonstration on the use of an inhaler.

Epinephrine Auto Injector - 1 hour
Gives the participants the knowledge and skills to be able to recognize and assist someone who is having an allergic reaction.  Demonstrates the proper use of an auto-injector.

Injury Control Modules – each approximately 1 hour long
A series of Injury Control Guide are available to help employers reduce on-the-job injuries and major health risks. Each 12-page Injury Control Guide contains information and full-color illustrations that enhance learning and support behavior change.

  • Preventing Back Injuries – Helps workers assess the causes of their back pain and reduce their risk of injury.
  • Ergonomics – Easy ways to reduce repetitive stress injuries.
  • Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls – practical advice on shoe selection, ladder safety, and injury prevention programs.
  • Managing Stress – Explores stress at work and at home, recognizing triggers and developing stress-reduction strategies.
  • Your Heart Matters – Identifies primary lifestyle risk factors and ways to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
  • Workplace violence Awareness – How to recognize impending workplace violence and ensure personal safety and security.

Guide may be distributed to employees as educational resources or used to supplement health and safety training.
